Today we're going to Cochem,the seat of and the biggest town in the Cochem-Zell district in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany, to visit the Cochem Imperial castle. Towering over 100 metres above the county seat of Cochem, on the peak of a hill visible from afar, is the landmark of this town. It was built as a fortress in Romanesque style after 1056. The Reichsburg Cochem had its first documentary mention in 1130. In 1151, it was occupied by King Konrad III, who declared it an Imperial castle.
